New Addition to the Farm and a Shelf to Boot

I have been working to clear an area to have our chickens and what happens? I cut down a tree with a nest of baby squirrels in it! I didnt know they were there! Well one was impaled by a branch when the tree fell so there is one left alive, now we are up every 2 hours feeding this little guy/girl.

Sorry the pictures of it are blurry, I couldnt hold steady enough....I tried 6 times but this is the best it could get.

I also thought that I would show y'all a picture of my new seed germination stand. Its 6 feet high, 4 feet long, 24 inches deep. Has 3 shelves and is designed to come apart to move it. I just have to take the bolts loose. Also, the design lets me add a section to the end of it to make more area. Right now I am using a pump up sprayer to water the seedlings but I want to get it set up with a manafold to spray the trays so that all i have to do is pump the reservour and turn a nob and it waters all the trays at the same time. We have a couple things planted but will be planting the rest this weekend.

The pictures are dark because I took them last night. I should have taken some better ones but this will have to do.

Just 3 items are started. Two trays of onions (with single rows) and on tray of broccoli (with double rows) and Spinnach (double rows). The tomates and a bunch of others will start this weekend.

Well thats it.

Hope you enjoyed.

just a thought- it might be a good idea to attach your shop lights on chains so you can lower and raise them as the seedlings grow (the shop lights should only be about 4 inches above the seedlings). if you don't, you're going to get very leggy seedlings that are going to be extremely suceptable to disease when they are planted outdoors, if they make it that far.

i Jeremy and Brandy,
For a young couple you seem to have old spirits. It's nice to see young
people
who are more interested in learning skills and forging a life with them,
rather than
expecting someone to spoon feed them. When I was young, I wanted to go back
to the earth (that's what we called it when I was young!) but I didn't have
the courage
to try. So I give you kudos for having the courage to chase your dream.
The only thing that bothers me, was when I saw the avert. thing about
buying southern.
Now I admit to knowing very little about the real reasons for the civil war
and what it
did to southerners, but I do know why we are in the shape we are in as
Americans.
We can put the blame squarely on the federal reserve and corporations who
are
robbing us blind. I think we (north and south working folk) need to work
together to rid ourselves
of these insidious vultures. The reason I say this is because of the old
adage-- divide
and conquer. And I for one, don't want them to win.
Enough soap boxing, I hope you two the best of luck in your endeavor, and I
will keep
watching your progress.

Best wishes, Joe

Hey thanks for your email.

I am proudly southern. Many people think the civil war was about slavery....it was not. The Civil War began because the federal government was trying to tell the states what to do in all matters. They wanted to control the money and they have succeeded with the federal reserve, which was exactly why the southerners didnt want the federal government getting into their business. The slaver bit was because the north needed a good reason for killing 600000 people. More northerners owned slaves than did southerners and while slavery is wrong, they felt it necessary to teach that as a fact in their "federalized" school system to support their (the federal governments) propaganda. Besides most of America was getting away from slavery by that point and in my mind would have abolished it completely with out war. Now the states have are viewed as countys rather than an independent "State" and are forced to do as the federal government bids, regardless of social, religious, or personal preference and that takes the vote away from the people and puts it into the hands of runaway congressmen and Judges.

I am not a racist. I see people as given the right by our creator to have "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness". I just stand with the political stance of the confederacy which was to give the states the right to be ruled by the individuals of that state (each to their own).

Thank you again.

God Bless
