Recently my employment at Evangel University has ended. I am no longer working in IT nor will I ever go back to that. My focus is strait forward on my Dream to be a Self sustainable small farmer. A lot of people will call me crazy for jumping into this before I have payed off my debt but the way I figure it If I dont now, when will I? There will always be a reason for not crossing over your invisible wall of fear and pursuing your dream. This is where my dependence on my God comes in, to provide for us daily. I feel it is his leading that has brought be to this point.
With that comes the requirement to produce a regular income in order to pay the bills. We are going to try and sell our little 03 ford focus that gets 33mpg for $8000 (we bought it for $9500 just a month ago and we dont owe a thing on it). We have an older car that gets good gas mileage that we can buy for $2000 so with that and getting brandy a closer Job we should come out pretty good on bills. Let me know if anyone in the springfield Missouri area are interested by emailing me at myerstownfarm@gmail.com.
As a result of not working at a place with a computer all the time, I will most likely not be posting as much...although I hope to start selling some of my products (blacksmithing items, hand made old time furnature, Tutorial Fiddle music DVD, and more) at ebay soon in order to maintain the constant income needed to keep our heads above water in the bill department.
Soon as spring and summer get into full swing, I have already been planning the biggest spring planting that I have ever seen in my family's history. I have 3 plots ready and another to be tilled. We will be planting about 40 varieties of vegitables, flowers, and grains. We will try and sell the cut flowers, fresh vegies, and we will harvest the grain for our selves and our livestock.
The rabbitry is planned for spring also. It will house 10 cages and will be built to be expandable in future years to up to 60 cages. Chickens are also planned. We will be trying to get the old variety called Java Blacks. They have been bread in america since before the 1800's to my knowledge. We will be selling the eggs and eating the meat.
So lots planned but we need prayer to make it through this first few months with out a large flow of money.
Well thats about all. Leave comments if you can. Not sure when I will be back but I promise I will be and with an update.
Thanks
